Bishop (Dr.) Kofi Adonteng Boateng at work
By Sam Doku
On a typical Sunday afternoon, junior pastors at Divine Word International Ministries, together with congregation members who can make it, assemble at noon, four hours before regular church service begins at 4 p.m., to pray ceaselessly to sanctify the place of worship.
Before Bishop (Dr.) Kofi Adonteng Boateng comes to deliver his sermon, everyone is put in a propitious state of mind to receive his message. Blessed with the power to prophesy, to heal, and to teach, Bishop Adonteng Boateng, who was given an honorary doctorate degree by his alma mater a couple of years ago, delves into the bible, quoting the scriptures extemporaneously in support of his message for the day.
A couple of Sundays ago, Bishop Adonteng Boateng’s message to his congregation was that throughout history God has chosen one individual at a time, not groups, to do great things that would change the course of history and that, God’s promise never fails because He does not renege on His promises.
Quoting from Genesis through Habakkuk to 2nd Corinthians 1 to affirm the fact that God’s promise is final, Bishop Adonteng Boateng packed his sermon with hope for miracles to unfold in the lives of his congregation members.
Although many Christians believe that the world is fast approaching its final days because of the many calamities, wars, and suffering all over the globe, Dr. Adonteng Boateng’s message is never of doom and gloom. His sermons are grounded in messages of hope, miracles, and fulfillment for his congregation and humankind.
Just like Jesus Christ healed the sick, fed the hungry, and raised Lazarus from the merciless claws of death, Bishop Adonteng Boateng also prays to heal the sick and to avert and thwart unforeseen dangers in the lives of people. He prays to cast out demons tormenting people, and he has prayed for Kofi to regain his power of speech after being struck dumb by an inexplicable disease. He has also prayed to revive a congregation member, who was working and suddenly became unconscious.
Indeed, after praying for Kofi to be healed, Bishop Adonteng Boateng extended his pastoral act of generosity to him by presenting Kofi with three brand new suits to the admiration and adulation of the congregation.
Last year, Bishop Adonteng Boateng and church members visited the District of Columbia to donate food and clothing to the homeless.
These occurrances are just a microcosm of the miracles that many of the Bishop’s congregation members experience in their lives on a daily basis.
Pastor Dauda Keita is one of the junior pastors at Divine Word International Ministries. He says, “The miracle of Kofi is just one of the many miracles members of the church receive.”
Pastor Keita further notes: “Divine Word is a Full Prophetic Ministry, where the Five Fold Ministries are fully displayed by the Hand of the Holy Spirit. With the Bishop’s background in Broadcasting, Divine runs and operates its own Radio station (DivinewordFM) and its own Television station (Divine word TV).”
According to Pastor Keita, Divine Word International Ministries began as a small prayer group (Divine Prayer Line) on a free conference line in Worcester, Massachusetts and grew in a very short time to a full-fledged Ministry with 3,000 Church members and over 10,000 believers on the prayer line network worldwide.
Bishop Adonteng Boateng’s knowledge of the bible is impressive; his compassion is genuine, his humility and wisdom are Christ-like, and his eloquence is impeccably divine. As Pastor Keita points out, “The Bishop is a charismatic preacher, Prophet and Teacher called and ordained by God to be a blessing to this end time generation.”
Many church members believe that the quintessential objective of the Bishop is to garner Christians all over the world under a unique umbrella of receiving the salvation of Jesus. Sunday church service is graced by the music of the Divine Angels Choir, whose melodious songs mollify the nerves of the congregation before the anointed man of God takes the podium to preach, heal, and teach.
