By Samuel O. Doku (Washington, DC). He came; he preached powerfully, and he not only inspired his congregation to new heights in their faith, but he also won new souls for Jesus Christ. Pastor Georges Ntemi’s Resurrection Day sermon was special and renowned for its message of hope, courage, and blessed assurance that with Christ, the devil has no chance to torment anyone who believes in the Lord as his or her savior.
“This is a special day. It is the day the Lord has made for us to be glad and rejoice in, for he has risen, and he is alive,” noted the anointed man of God on Easter Sunday. After reading Luke 24: 1-9, he asserted: “They went to embellish the Lord’s body with 100 different spices for it to look new. They wanted to care for the Lord, but the Bible says, ‘let the dead bury their dead.’
“Christ is the only person they don’t put late in front of his name. They have late in front of Mohammed; they have late in front of Buddha. They have late in front of Confucius. Christ is the only one they talk about like that without ‘late’ in front of his name.” He reiterated verse seven, “. . . the Son of Man must be handed over to sinners and be crucified and on the third day, rise again.”
Pastor Georges recaptured the entire Crucifixion and Resurrection story in a creative way to bring its impact to bear on the Congregation. He noted that at Gethsemane, Jesus went there with three of his disciples, Peter, James, and John to pray. Christ asked them to stay and watch while he went up the hill to pray. When he returned, they were all sleeping.
“Gethsemane means press of the holy oil. It is at the foot of Mount Olives in Jerusalem. One watch means three hours. On a night when they were coming to arrest Christ, the three disciples could not stay for three hours without sleeping. In the same way, when you ask some to come and pray for three hours continuously, they would be in agony. This is a testament to the fact that sometimes your will shall conflict with the Lord’s. When that happens, let the will of the Lord have its way,” said Pastor Georges.
He observed that one such conflict between the will of the Lord and human will was praying in public schools. “Just like the disciples slept when Christ went up to pray, some Congress members who were Christians slept, so Congress was able to pass legislation to take away prayer from public schools. If only we can communicate with the Lord instead of sleeping, things that belong to us would not be taken from us,” said Pastor Georges.
When Christ came to the disciples, he said, “Wake up! Here comes my betrayer. The traitor is not far from you. He or she will be calling you mom or dad, but they will be stabbing you in the back simultaneously. When the Roman soldiers came to arrest him, he stood there, because he is the king of kings; he stood there because he is the Lord, and all power belongs to him,” said the apostle of God.
He spoke about Christ’s trial at the Sanhedrin and how Caiaphas, the high priest under the inspiration of Satan led the charge to have Christ condemned to death, because he had said he could dismantle the Temple and rebuild it in three days. What happened after his crucifixion? There was an earthquake, and the Temple divided into two to prove to Caiaphas and his cabal of charlatans that Christ was and is, indeed, Lord.
To be in commune with the Lord on the day of his Crucifixion, Pastor Georges asked members of Amazing Love Church Ministry to do dry fasting for three days, from midnight on Thursday to midnight on Saturday. Before they broke the fast, they watched The Passion of the Christ, the movie that graphically painted the torment, torture, and horrifying ordeal our Lord and savior endured on the way to Calvary.
“The Passion of the Christ is just a glimpse of what Christ went through. They took him to Pontius Pilate, but he found no fault with him. They were not after justice; they just wanted to kill him. In the same vein, the enemy is seeking your destruction but stay strong; be courageous. I am with you. The king of kings is the Truth, the Light, and the Way. He shed his blood for you. He will set you free from the devil,” said the anointed man of God.
Isaiah 53: 4-5 read, “Surely he has borne our infirmities and carried our diseases; yet we accounted him stricken, struck down by God and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the punishment that made us whole, and by his bruises we are healed,” noted Pastor Georges.
“When you are going through trouble, and you don’t know what the Lord has in store for you, just keep quiet and leave everything in his hands. The last miracle he performed was to heal the ear of the Roman soldier that Peter chopped off. Even at that moment, he was still full of love. He can heal anybody. The giver lay in the tomb on Friday, the whole day on Saturday, but on the third day, he rose from the dead.
“The king of kings, the Lord of hosts, the Lion of Judah rose from the dead. Before that day, death was powerful; the devil was in control, but after that day, the devil was rendered powerless because Christ is alive. He took the keys to death and hell from the devil,” affirmed Pastor Georges.
The congregation shouted with joy and clapped when Pastor Georges mentioned that Christ took away the keys to death and hell from the devil, because death could only claim the body that is clay anyway, but the human spirit of the believer experiences eternal life.
“What is your situation? He is with you; he is alive. He took his blood in his hand and put it in your hand and took the hand of his Father and declared, ‘All is finished.’ He was the sacrifice for our sins. I don’t know how messed up your life is, call on him and he will come through for you. The devil is a liar,” specified the apostle of God powerfully.
This week, Amazing Love Church Ministry Int’l is continuing in the tradition of unearthing and training the youth to become responsible leaders in their communities and in the Church. Operating under the theme “Covenant Keepers Week: Youth with a Purpose,” and under the aegis of Mr. Elton Kamwa and Ms. Michelle Tchatat, they will moderate and teach on the prayer line for the entire week.
On Friday (7-9 p.m.) and Saturday (6-9 p.m.), they will have performances, and on Sunday, a guest speaker, Brother Brice Kamtche will deliver the sermon. They will also be consecrated by the pastors of the Church, and Senior Pastor Georges Ntemi will perform the closing ceremony.
